Some familiar faces are returning to American Horror Story. A Cheers alum will show up on Bones. And which singer from Smash is guest starring on Elementary? Read on for all the latest casting news on these and much more, including Arrow, Nashville, Teen Wolf, and Hart of Dixie.
Alexandra Breckenridge and Denis O’Hare returning to American Horror Story: creator Ryan Murphy revealed the news on Twitter. Nothing is known yet about their characters or how they will fit into the witch-themed season, subtitled Coven, but to remind you of who they played before: Breckenridge played young Moira and O’Hare was Larry “The Burn Guy” Harvey, both during season 1.
More Details on Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett’s AHS Characters: We’ve known for a while that these two were joining season 3. But now we know more about their characters. According to Zap2it, Bates’ character is Madame LaLaurie, and she’s based on a real-life New Orleans socialite, “who was discovered to have tortured and killed dozens of black slaves in her mansion.” Meanwhile, Bassett is playing Marie Laveau, a Louisiana Creole woman (known to others as a Voodoo priestess), also based on someone from real life.
John Ratzenberger to bring Cheers to Bones: Okay, maybe he won’t necessarily bring cheers, but in season 9’s second episode, he’ll show up as Bill Schumacher, who goes to a couples retreat with his wife because they have some personal issues to work out, reports EW. And get this — they’re leading a secret double life, but for long can they keep it a secret?
Dylan Bruce guest starring on Arrow: The Orphan Black star is set to play Adam Donner, a lawyer who happens to be Laurel’s new co-worker — TVLine describes him as “smart and charismatic.” Keep your eye out for him to guest star on episodes one and three during season 2.
Oliver Hudson as a love interest on Nashville: Sounds like Deacon will have to contend with the Rules of Engagement star as a love interest for Rayna James. This will be a recurring role for Hudson, and sources have told TVLine that he’s a charming businessman looking to “shake things up in Nashville.”
Arden Cho looking to threaten Teen Wolf: The Pretty Little Liars and Rizzoli & Isles guest star has signed on for a recurring role in the second half of season 3, airing in 2014. E! Online notes that her character “brings a unique new history and a new threat” that will involve Asian mythology.
Jeremy Jordan to sing a different tune on Elementary: We all know him as Jimmy on the now-cancelled musical drama Smash, but he’ll next be seen on Elementary as Joey Castoro, whose father, a surgical patient, died — and he’s got a connecting to Joan Watson’s past, according to TVLine.
Josh Cooke joins Hart of Dixie: The Dexter alum will have a recurring role on the CW drama in season 3 as a New Yorker named Joel, who’s not used to the small-town life in Bluebell — viewers will first see him appear in the season premiere, airing October 7.
