Ryan Murphy has never been shy about showing how much of a fan he is of Stevie Nicks — and now the Fleetwood Mac singer will be guest starring on American Horror Story: Coven. Also, Alan Alda will be causing some trouble for James Spader’s character on The Blacklist. Read on for all the details, including casting news for Person of Interest, Beauty and the Beast, Community, The Mindy Project, The Goldbergs, The Neighbors, Grimm and The Millers.
Stevie Nicks to guest star on American Horror Story: Coven: Creator Ryan Murphy made the announcement by simply tweeting out, “Guess who’s visiting the Coven? The legendary Stevie Nicks!” And that’s it — there’s nothing else we know about her role. But this casting news seems very obvious considering during the current installment, Misty Day loves Stevie Nicks and her music.
Alan Alda is Reddington’s enemy on The Blacklist: The former M*A*S*H star will be featured in an episode this season as Mr. Crowley, who has known Red for quite some time and is considered to be his “lethal enemy,” according to Access Hollywood. He confronts Spader’s character to make sure certain evidence is kept a secret because if it doesn’t, Red may find his life flashing before his eyes, if you get my drift.
Camryn Manheim and Saul Rubinek have their own Person of Interest story arc: The two will play husband and wife, Diane and Arthur. The latter is described by TVLine as “brilliant,” but he’s “slowly losing his mind.” The Interest team has to count on Diane for a task in order for the two of them to stay alive. The actors have signed on for a multi-episode arc that will begin in the early part of 2014.
Elisabeth Rohm is an FBI agent on Beauty and the Beast: The former Law & Order star has been cast in a four-episode arc as FBI Agent Dana Maron, who, as Entertainment Weekly reports via the character description, “is dedicated to cleaning up the FBI.” She starts working with Cat after beginning work on some investigations regarding undercover operations, which “may ultimately lead to Cat learning more about her own past than she ever imagined.”
David Cross is ready for Dungeons & Dragons on Community: The star, known for his role on Arrested Development, will guest star this season in an episode that is considered to be a sequel of sorts to the “Advanced Dungeons & Dragons” episode from 2011. His character is the “bitterly estranged son” of Professor Hickey who “joins the study group for, at the very least, the second most important game of Dungeons & Dragons ever,” as noted in the official episode description, via Vulture.
Maria Menounos returning to The Mindy Project: The host of Extra will reprise her role as a fictional version of herself in multiple episodes this season. Adam Pally told TVLine that in her first episode back, “There’s a big party in the office, and Peter’s dream woman (Menounos) shows up as one of the Deslauriers’ dates,” and his crush is “slowly evolving.” Pally also said, “Maria is so awesome and so beautiful and so funny and nice. I really liked doing scenes with her. She’s a great actress.”
Martin Starr brings his serious side on The Goldbergs: You may know him from Freaks & Geeks and Knocked Up, and now Starr will appear in an episode scheduled to air in January as an employee at a video store named Andre who “takes his job a little too seriously,” according to EW.
Mark McGrath’s here for the reunion on The Neighbors: TVLine reports that the Sugar Ray singer is playing someone who was in a band with Marty back in high school. And when it’s time to rehearse for their reunion, it won’t go smoothly when a huge secret makes itself known.
Kirk Acevedo and Emily Rios are veterans on Grimm: In an episode set to air in early 2014, Acevedo is playing Ron Hurd, who was in the Army and is now in home security — unfortunately for him, a secret from back when he was serving comes to light. And Rios is playing Frankie Gonzales, also a veteran, who went through a terrible trauma when in the military, but The Wrap notes that she’s very strong and won’t back down even when things get tough.
Jerry Van Dyke and June Squibb are Carol’s parents on The Millers: They show up during the episode airing on December 12 (“Carol’s Parents are Coming to Town”). Bud and Blanche are very overbearing, and Carol sets in motion a plan to make sure they don’t find out she’s no longer with Tom. Star Beau Bridges told TV Guide, “Jerry’s a scream! He came on and had everyone in stitches.”
