It’s been a busy weekend on the Idol-sphere, yes? We had Sunday night’s audition episode (which will be aired again tonight), we had the ever-changing Top 24 spoilers, and we have this, everything else that we can’t fit, in yet another American Idol roundup. Game face on.
Let’s begin with last year’s winner Scotty McCreery: he’s headed to the CW’s Hart of Dixie, according to the Huffington Post. Unfortunately, he won’t be acting: he’ll be appearing as himself, singing his sophomore single “The Trouble with Girls” in a critical scene between Rachel Bilson and Scott Porter. His episode is expected to air on April 23.
Now, back to this season, and to the rest of the Idol-sphere…
Did Jane Carrey get special treatment during the Idol auditions? Radar Online quotes a production insider, saying that Jim Carrey’s daughter, who auditioned in San Diego, did not have to fall in line like all the other hoperfuls: “Her audition was pre-arranged with the producers. She did not wait and line up for hours or days outside – she had a time, she showed up and went in,” the source said. Personally? Not that bothered — I mean, this surely isn’t the first time this happened, right?
Double Phillips will miss his graduation, and I’m sure it’s because of this. He’ll receive his degree from Albany Technical College this Friday, but he won’t be going up the stage because of his Idol obligations, according to Fox 31.
New album news now, and we begin with season 9 finalist Casey James, whose self-titled album will hit stores on March 20, according to a press release from Sony Music Nashville. It’s definitely taken a while: it’s been two years since he finished his Idol run in third place, and five months since he released his single, “Let’s Don’t Call It A Night”.
