Over the years, American Idol has produced success story after success story. Not only have the contestants found major success in the music industry, but some have even broken into the movie business.
Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks has appeared in Sparkle (Whitney Houston’s final movie) and The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete (which incidentally also starred another Idol alum — Jennifer Hudson).
Now she’s in a new film called Left Behind, which is based on a series of books by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, about the Rapture. The movie, a reboot of the original film adaptation from 2000, also stars none other than Nicolas Cage, along with Chad Michael Murray, Lea Thompson, Cassi Thomson and Nicky Whelan.
BuddyTV spoke to Jordin about Left Behind and the character she plays, along with the personal reason for wanting to join this film. She also shared a story of a scene they were filming on set where she got emotional, and talked about what it’s like to be in a movie with a big star like Nicolas Cage.
And since we all know her from American Idol, I of course had to ask Jordin about music. It’s been over five years since her sophomore album, Battlefield, so what’s the latest on her third album? “New music is coming sooner than you think,” she said with a smile. But how soon is that?
Watch the entire interview below to also get some hints on future film projects that she’s auditioning for, and to hear her speak about her partnership with Excedrin; there’s a personal reason for why she wanted to partner with them that involves her mother — find out below.
As mentioned in the interview, you can visit Excedrin’s website or Facebook page for more information and to read the 2014 Millennial Migraine Survey.
