Listen to Andrew Garcia’s New Single “Dumb”
We all remember Andrew Garcia as the season 9 contestant who reinvented Paula Abdul‘s “Straight Up.” And now he’s releasing an original song on iTunes called “Dumb” — listen to the song below in his lyric video. It’ll be included on his album, Turbulence, which doesn’t yet have a release date.
What do you think of “Dumb”? As the song progressed, I found myself really enjoying it. The soulful tone to Andrew’s voice that we loved on Idol is on full display here.
Crystal Bowersox Playing Patsy Cline on Broadway
Idols have found quite a bit of success on Broadway, so I’m surprised that no one’s won a Tony yet. But maybe this new addition will be the one. Crystal Bowersox has revealed that she’s been cast in Always … Patsy Cline as — you guessed it — Patsy Cline.
“It’s like a lifetime achievement thing,” Crystal tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m really happy about it. I grew up listening to her music, as most of us have, and I feel a special connection to her. Sadly, she died so young that she didn’t get to experience or really enjoy [her success]. It’s a tragic story and a great play and I’m really honored to be the one they chose to play Patsy.”
If you aren’t familiar with her, Patsy Cline was a country singer who found success with songs like “Crazy,” “Walkin’ After Midnight” and “I Fall to Pieces.” Unfortunately, she died in 1963 in a place crash at the young age of 30.
No other details are known at this point about the Broadway production. But this isn’t Crystal’s first acting gig; she guest starred in an episode of Body of Proof in 2011.
Crystal is also set to release her sophomore album next month; the first single off the record, “Dead Weight,” is available to listen to online for free.
