Over the past few years, we’ve seen former American Idol contestants compete on The Voice. And it’s about to happen again, this time with another disqualified singer. Also in today’s Roundup, Fantasia continues to try and clear up her statements on same-sex marriage. And four winners are on the Billboard 200 chart this week, with one celebrating a milestone of selling 1 million copies.

Jermaine Jones Auditioning for The Voice
When it comes to American Idol, season 11 finalist Jermaine Jones will never be known for his talent. Rather, fans will always remember him as the contestant disqualified for lying to producers about his criminal past — EP Nigel Lythgoe even confronted him on camera about the situation. But that hasn’t stopped Jermaine from trying to continue his path of being a successful artist. He posted on Twitter and Instagram an exciting announcement today: “Are you ready the #mainetrain is taking off again….. My audition is next month I need all your support and prayers instagr.am/p/UEFp4WDqM3/.” Clicking this Instragram link takes you to an image of The Voice logo.
Will producers even let him perform for the judges? All they have to do is look to his criminal past and decide they don’t want him. Then again, it wouldn’t be the first time an Idol contestant has appeared on The Voice. Both Frenchie Davis and Jamar Rogers made it much farther during their respective seasons than when they were on Idol. And Frenchie was also disqualified from the show that started it all, when nude photos of her surfaced online.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jermaine is filming The North Star, a movie with Jeremiah Trotter. He’s also working on a music video for “All Around the World,” his current single.

Fantasia Insists She Didn’t Slam Same-Sex Marriage
Oh, Fantasia, you’re not helping yourself by continuing to explain and clarify your supposed rant against same-sex marriage. First, she said she was taken out of context and that the “gay community is one of my largest supporters.” Then her management team released a statement as they went into damage control mode. And since the story is still making its way around the Internet, I guess she feels like she needs to further explain herself, posting this on Instragram:
Something in this post stands out to me: “My [original] statement was to those who sit back and try to judge me. Cant go in on me about the Bible.. Cause nothing is like the Bible now.” Looking at her initial rant and then comparing it to what I’m quoting here, it does make sense. If we take her at her word, then I can see how she was using the legalization of marijuana and same-sex marriage as examples of how society has changed over the years and that her critics shouldn’t use the Bible to judge her when there are a lot of things in the Bible that don’t have resonance in modern times.
Now, if this latest clarification on her part is Fantasia being truthfully honest, then in a way she’s still at fault for letting it become a controversy in the first place because the way she formed her sentences, along with the weak grammar, may be the main culprit in how she’s been misconstrued. What do you think? Is she trying to backtrack a statement she may now regret saying publicly or is it her way with words that did her in? No matter which way it is, she might want to consider taking a break from Instagram and laying low for a little while.
The Top Idol Album Sales: Kelly Clarkson Sells 1 Million Copies
Idol winners are still holding strong on the charts, with Phillip Phillips taking the top spot this past week out of any winner or contestant. And both Kelly Clarkson, whose Stronger album just sold 1 million copies, and Scotty McCreery appear twice. (Speaking of Kelly, there have now been 4 million downloads of her single “Stronger.”) Take a look at the top Idols on the Billboard 200, according to USA Today:
