Both American Idol and The Voice were well represented during Wednesday night’s CMT Music Awards — but it was Carrie Underwood who came away as the big winner. Also in today’s Roundup, Colton Dixon has released his latest single “More of You.” And Sam Woolf performed an original song called “The Same.” You can watch videos of all of these moments (and listen to Colton’s song) below.

Carrie Underwood a Three-Peat Winner at CMT Music Awards
Nine years after winning American Idol season 4, Carrie Underwood‘s winning streak is still as strong as ever. During this year’s CMT Music Awards, held Wednesday night in Nashville, Carrie took home the top prize, Video of the Year, for the music video of “See You Again.”
She beat out 11 other nominees, including Blake Shelton, Florida Georgia Line, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift. Some big competition, but our very own Idol was the big winner.
Blake has nothing to be upset about, though. Not only did he win Male Video of the Year, but his wife, Miranda Lambert, won Female Video of the Year and Cassadee Pope, who was on Team Blake in season 3 of The Voice, won Breakthrough Video of the Year for her catchy single “Wasting All These Tears.” Not too shabby.
Amazingly, this is the third year in a row that Carrie has taken home the Video of the Year Award. And with 11 CMT Music Award belt buckles in total, she has the most CMT wins out of anybody. Check out her acceptance speech below:

Aside from this big win, Carrie also teamed up with Miranda Lambert to perform their duet “Somethin’ Bad.” It’s a must-see performance, and you can watch it here:

Sam Woolf Performs Original Song “The Same”
Season 13 of Idol was all about original songs, from Alex Preston’s “Fairytales” and Jessica Meuse’s “Blue Eyed Lie” to Jena Irene’s “Unbreakable Me” and many more along the way. With the season now over, this gives us even more opportunities to hear original music by the now-former contestants.
Sam Woolf returned to his hometown recently. And one of his stops while there was at the local ABC affiliate station, where he performs an original called “The Same.” It sounds pretty good and Sam’s voice is really strong here.
But this performance wasn’t the highlight of his trip back home. Sam also was able to walk with his senior class for graduation on Saturday. You can see pictures here.
