Not since Ivan Drago has a self-proclaimed Soviet so threatened the existence of the American dream. On VH1's
America's Most Smartest Model, cocky Russian-born
Andre Birleanu stormed in with a fury, making no friends with his standoffish demeanor and total self-confidence. He bellowed that models are superior to average people in every way, and mocked his fellow competitors, taking glee in every elimination.
The mirror in his room was adorned with trophies from his fallen victims, name placards of each and every model he defeated. He often invoked the film 300 with his desire to “dine in Hell.” Much like that men in that film, he's muscular and fond of removing his shirt, with an undercurrent of homosexuality.
While he ultimately lost to American
VJ Logan, Andre trounced away with her hearts, reminding us of a simpler time when wars were cold and the only enemy we had to worry about was Red Communism. He was a stereotype from a time long forgotten by today's youth, but sometimes it's nice to reminisce about the villains of our past.
