The first transgender contestant on the CW’s America’s Next Top Model is making headlines again and turning even more heads. Isis King recently appeared on The Tyra Banks Show, opening up about her sex-change operation and finally becoming a woman. Of course, that includes a new life with her boyfriend, Desmond.
The 23-year-old model was known for getting eliminated off the fifth episode of the renowned reality series’ 11th Cycle. It was due to her reservations about wearing a bikini, as well as being hesitant about doing the water-themed photo shoot. In November last year, Tyra decided to help her out and introduce her to a surgeon who would later pay for the operation to turn her into a woman. The procedure ended up a success, with Isis talking about the experience in public at last.
“I got the bathing suit issue out of the way,” Isis King proudly announced. Tyra gave her the chance to recreate the pool scene she missed out on during her time on America’s Next Top Model. Three photos were revealed
“I feel very confident and sexy,” King continued. She admitted that it took four hours and 15 minutes for her to change to an anatomical female. After the surgery, she was handed a mirror. It was one intense moment for her.
“It’s almost like I was supposed to have it,” she said. “Although it was swelling and bruising and everything, automatically I felt more comfortable. I was ready to walk around the house in my little shorts. I just felt more confident.”
Another source of joy for Isis King is her beau, Desmond. The two met more than three years ago on MySpace and fell for each other even before her surgery. He appeared on Tyra’s show with her and had a big surprise in store for everyone – especially Isis.
“When we were just friends, I had a dream I was getting married,” he told Banks. “As the bride came down the aisle, it was Isis… She’s strong, she’s beautiful, she’s my soul mate.”
It was at that moment he got down on one knee and proposed to Isis. What more could she say but: “Yes! Oh my Goodness. Oh my goodness. Are you serious?” As we’re all truly happy for Isis’ success, we now wait for news about their wedding.
