To prepare ourselves for the crazy, perhaps catastrophic premiere of America’s Next Top Model: All Stars, let’s familiarize ourselves with the contestants. We know a lot about these ladies from their time on the show, but what have they accomplished since then? What mysterious mystical force convinced them to take another shot at the much-coveted and often laughed-at title? Was it Tyra?
Some of these questions will be answered throughout this week, when we take a look back at the lives of these All-Star contestants. We’ll also highlight a few of their best moments on America’s Next Top Model.
Now, to brighten up your day, let’s get to know more about our petite and bubbly Southern sweetie, Laura Kirkpatrick.
Original Cycle: Cycle 13, 2009
Placed: 2nd
Age: 22
Has Modeled For: Lex Scene Magazine, Steve Madden’s Summer 2010 Collection, PacSun/Roxy Swimwear, charity print work for the 2010 Haiti earthquake relief, Seventeen Magazine
It’s impossible to say anything bad about Laura, who rose to become one of the biggest fan favorites on America’s Next Top Model. She even won a six-month stay in NYC for it.
The story behind Laura’s success stems from her grandmother who sews dresses for her. Aww. She also has a charming personality that the judges loved, because she was this friendly and honest country girl who stood out. She even overcame her dyslexia to become the runner-up for Cycle 13.
Ultimately, she didn’t win because her competitor, Nicole Fox, had stronger photos than her. Though Laura was never in the Bottom Two throughout, she never once won first photo call-out despite the praise she received.
Laura then pursued a modeling career in New York and planned on taking a trip to Germany to go far in her profession. She’s had several offers from agencies, but she hasn’t signed with any of them since. However, she has appeared on runway shows and magazines, as well as The Tyra Banks Show.
Aside from her modeling aspirations, Laura has also started a dyslexia foundation called The Beautiful Minds. It’s just another one of the gifts she’s shared with everyone, like that accent and her amazing ability to castrate cows without “not really” hurting them.
Check back tomorrow as we look at another contestant from America’s Next Top Model All-Stars. And set your calendars for the show’s premiere on September 14.
