Season 5 of The CW’s Arrow is going to be unlike anything you’ve seen before. That’s the promise of the show’s star, Stephen Amell, anyway. Amell recently took to Facebook to offer fans of his superhero drama some hints about what and who they can expect to see in the upcoming season. Find out all of the details below.

Amell’s Allusions
Stephen Amell loves to engage with his fans on social media and seems to love teasing them just as much. His recent Facebook live stream was no different. In the stream, Amell talked about how he had read the first script for season 5, and it sounds like we’re in for quite a treat.
“If [the premiere] is any indication, Arrow is going to be fucking mean this year,” said Amell. “And that’s really exciting.” After being questioned by a fan during the stream, he clarified that he doesn’t mean to say that his character will be evil, just meaner than we’ve seen. That isn’t all, though. He also mentioned that the premiere episode “has the opportunity for us to have the most vicious, violent one-shot in the history of network television.” This is a pretty big thing to drop, and hopefully Arrow can follow through with one of the most epic fight scenes we’ve ever seen.
New Suit, New Character
Amell also mentioned that his Arrow costume will be a “slightly modified version” of what we’ve seen before. The suit also just got a slightly different look this last season, so this is possibly a pattern we’ll continue to see. Amell also hinted that season 5 will feature “someone that we haven’t seen in 2 full seasons. So there’s that.” While many believe that to be Slade, TVLine pointed out that we actually did see Slade midway through season 3, and Amell was specific when he said 2 “full” seasons.
While we’re not necessarily sure which character Amell is hinting will return, we can confirm at least one new face that will join the cast in season 5. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tyler Ritter (The McCarthys) has signed on to play the role of Detective Malone, Star City’s newest police officer. No description for the character of Malone has yet been revealed.
