Janelle Pierzina may be the biggest star in US Big Brother history. Her appeal is a tad bit confusing, but it’s widespread. Everyone seems to like the buxom blonde, who combined a ditzy exterior with an undeniable talent for physical and mental challenges on her two Big Brother seasons (Big Brother 6 and Big Brother All-Stars). It’s now being reported (from the digital mouth of Janelle herself) that Ms. Pierzina will enjoy an expanded role on the upcoming Big Brother 9, which is set to premiere next month. No confirmation of such claims have come from CBS, and Janelle’s proclamation comes just two months after she declared that Big Brother and everything that goes along with it was firmly in her past – she would not be involved with the program ever again. Either Janelle had a change of heart of CBS made her an offer she couldn’t refuse.
Janelle did not speak to the nature of her Big Brother 9 involvement, though much speculation has occurred in the online community. She will not be a house guest – that’s about all we know. Last season, Janelle showed up to host a challenge and ended up flirting creepily with the eventual winner Dick Donato. It’s not unreasonable to think that she will once again help with a challenge or two, but her statement about a having a bigger role on Big Brother seems to indicate that her involvement would go further than a singular challenge appearance. It could be that Janelle will be a regular guest host on House Calls, the online Big Brother talk show that airs during the season. Perhaps she’ll act as de facto host of Big Brother After Dark. Really, it’s all speculation at this point.
I’m not as big a fan of Janelle as others are, so I couldn’t care less either way. If she appears in any sort of quasi-important capacity next season, so be it. I don’t particularly think it’s necessary. It’s not like a significant amount of viewers are going to tune in especially for Janelle. Big time Janelle fans wil be watching Big Brother anyway.
