When Brennan is expecting…
Thanks to a wee bit of a cliffhanger at the end of the season 6 finale of Bones, we know that Dr. Temperance Brennan is pregnant. And we know that Special Agent Seeley Booth is the daddy. From the finale, however, we really don’t know a whole lot else. Fortunately, there are now some spoilers to help remedy the situation!
How Close to a Baby Are We?
According to a report from TVLine, Brennan will be pretty far along in her pregnancy when new episodes resume in the fall. This does make sense, since the storyline goes along with Bones star Emily Deschanel‘s actual pregnancy (which will presumably be very visible by then).
What does this mean for Brennan’s day-to-day life? Bones executive producer Stephen Nathan says: “The first episode will pick up with Brennan moving into the third trimester of her pregnancy. Brennan is still the same strong character and shows no sign of slowing down. She attacks each case as she always has, although she must now deal with the realities of being pregnant.”
I’m going to guess that Brennan maybe doesn’t deal quite so well at first. Not if it means she can’t fully examine her precious bones anyway.
There’s no word as to how Booth will be dealing with all of this, and there is likewise nothing on the status of the Booth-Brennan relationship at the beginning of the season. Hopefully, some of those answers will emerge at Comic-Con — Bones is one of the shows scheduled for a panel. Otherwise, we will have to wait and see.
What About the Crimes?
They will still be happening. Of course. And TVLine says that the first episode of the seventh season will have the title: “The Memories in the Shallow Grave.”
That sounds sufficiently creepy and criminal for a season opener, doesn’t it?

How do you think Brennan and Booth should handle the impending arrival of their baby? How many episodes do you think we’ll get before Emily Deschanel‘s maternity leave? And how exactly does one examine human remains with a pregnancy bump in the way? Leave your theories and opinions in the comments section below!
