I hope you like to laugh. Because that's what TV has in store for us this fall. NBC is the first major network to announce its schedule for Fall 2012, and comedy is everywhere. Check out the full schedule here!
NBC will have its official upfront presentation on Monday, May 14, but the network got the jump on things by releasing its full Fall 2012 schedule one day earlier. The schedule is a mixture of some familiar shows and a whole lot of new programming.
Because NBC had released information on renewals, cancellations and new programming prior to the schedule release, there are only a few surprises.
NBC Renews Community for a 13-Episode Season 4.
NBC Orders Revolution and 6 New Comedies.
NBC Orders Chicago Fire.
NBC Renews Parenthood and 30 Rock.
NBC Renews Parks and Recreation, The Office, Whitney and Up All Night.
The HighlightsBig MovesThe only major scheduling shift for returning programming comes on Friday nights. Two returning comedies --
Whitney and
Community -- will now occupy the 8-9pm block prior to
Grimm. Both comedies were low-rated, so we can assume that the Friday move is meant to reduce competition.
Comedy, Comedy and More ComedyBecause network comedies did comparatively well in the 2011-2012 season, we will be getting a lot of funny (?) shows this fall. NBC will lead off its primetime programming with comedy blocks on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
No New Reality Until MidseasonNBC has a relatively light reality-TV schedule for the Fall of 2012. Only
The Voice (Mondays and Tuesdays),
Fashion Star (Sundays) and
Celebrity Apprentice (Sundays) will air before midseason.
