The shortened, all-athlete season of Dancing with the Stars won’t premiere until much later in the spring than usual. In its place, American Idol will be taking over Mondays for most of March and April.
Dancing with the Stars season 26, which will be a four-week, all-athlete edition of the ballroom competition, will premiere Monday, April 30 at 8/7c on ABC. That’s more than a month later than it traditionally starts its Spring season.
The move will pave the way for ABC to offer a double dose of its American Idol reboot. It was previously announced that the new version of Idol will premiere Sunday, March 11 at 8/7c with two-hour episodes. In addition, two-hour episodes will also air Mondays starting March 12 at 8/7c.
American Idol will air twice a week for the first seven weeks, but then DWTS will take over Mondays. The new Idol, still hosted by Ryan Seacrest, will feature a judging panel with Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan.
Are you happy to get double the Idol or disappointed y by a shorter, later DWTS season?
