Dancing with the Stars season 21 is getting spooky for week 7 with Halloween Night. Aside from ghoulish individual dances, we’ll also get the two Freestyle Team Dances. These are always fun and, as every fan knows, Derek Hough has NEVER lost the Team Dance scoring competition.
So how have the eight remaining couples been split up and which team will have the edge?
Team Who You Gonna Call?
Members: Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough, Alexa PenVega and Mark Ballas, Carlos PenaVega and Witney Carson, Alek Skarlatos and Lindsay Arnold
Once again, Derek is dancing with his BFF Mark and the team name makes it very clear that they’ll be dancing to the classic theme song from Ghostbusters. I can already imagine Derek and Mark turning into teenage boys with delight. Obviously this is a strong team, with Alek as, presumably, the weakest link. However, Bindi and Derek may have done a bad job drafting their team because I imagine a lot of the focus will be on the married couple dancing together. That could steal the spotlight away from Bindi. They also have a very similar age-range, with Bidni at 17 and Derek at 30 as the youngest and oldest members.
Team Nightmare
Members: Tamar Braxton and Val Chmerkovskiy, Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess, Andy Grammer and Allison Holker, Hayes Grier and Emma Slater
It’s interesting that the teams seem to have divided by age. Tamar, Nick and Andy, all over 30, are the three oldest remaining stars, making 15-year-old Hayes the odd boy out. Tamar also benefits from being the only female star on the team, giving her more visibility.
As always, you have to give the advantage to Derek’s team. Derek and Mark are an unstoppable combination while the female pros on their team, Witney and Lindsay, are also close friends. Adding in the fact that they have a married couple and this team already has a lot of strong connections and they know how to work together. Also, who isn’t gonna love a Ghostbusters routine?
Watch both teams perform their spooky dances on Dancing with the Stars, Monday at 8pm on ABC.
