I bet you you never thought you’d see Ann Romney and Lindsay Lohan in the same sentence. Well, think again, because just over a week after the wife of former presidential candidate Mitt Romney turned down an offer to join season 16 of Dancing with the Stars comes word that the troubled star has also refused to be on the show.

TMZ reports that Lohan “was made several offers to join the DWTS cast this upcoming season.” With each offer, ABC must have increased the paycheck because at one point she was offered $550,000. You read that right — just over half a million dollars. And that’s most likely not counting the bonuses she’d receive from any additional weeks of staying in the competition.
But why turn down such a lucrative deal? “She doesn’t want to do reality TV,” according to TMZ, but rather “wants to stick to films.” Considering her most recent film, Liz & Dick, was widely panned by critics and viewers alike, and her legal and financial troubles aren’t going away any time soon (even after Charlie Sheen’s generous $100,000 donation), maybe she should reconsider. Then again, her personal life and her family’s lives are already reality shows in and of themselves, so who knows.
Casting Romney and Lohan would have been huge after a ho-hum All-Star season last fall in which ratings decreased. But that doesn’t mean producers can’t find decent cast members to re-energize the show. Katherine Webb, girlfriend of Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback A.J. McCarron, is reportedly considering going on DWTS after receiving her own offer.
If her name doesn’t sound familiar, maybe this will: sports commentator Brent Musburger made inappropriate comments about her when the camera panned to her during a recent game. He said, “I’m telling you, you quarterbacks, you get all the good looking women. What a beautiful woman. … Wow! A.J.’s doing some things right down in Tuscaloosa.”
Webb is capitalizing on her 15 minutes of fame, having already joined ABC’s upcoming reality show Celebrity Diving, possibly working with Donald Trump on the Miss USA competition and being an on-the-scenes Super Bowl reporter for Inside Edition.
Are you bummed that Lindsay Lohan turned down the offer? And will you settle for Katherine Webb instead? Who else should join DWTS? Let us know in the comments.
Dancing with the Stars season 16 premieres March 18 at 8pm on ABC.
