Ty Pennington and his design team are heading to Ohio to inform one lucky family that they have been selected for a home makeover by showing up at their Dayton-area home on Thursday, July 30. At present, there are five families vying for a spot on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
While the chosen family has not yet been disclosed, the Dayton community and volunteers are gathering together to support the cause. Last Friday, volunteers met at Far Hills Community Church for a pep rally. Between 1,500 and 2,000 volunteers with donated building materials will demolish the existing house and replace it with a brand new one in less than a week.
The construction on the house could begin as soon as August 1. It’s a good thing Coventry Fine Homes, a custom and production homebuilder in the greater Dayton area, has committed to helping with the project.
“It was an honor to have been called by Extreme Makeover to lead the building process and participate in the show,” said Rob Arnold, president of Coventry Fine Homes and Prudential One Realtors in a news release from the company. “In the coming weeks we will witness how thousands of volunteers and generous sponsors in the Miami Valley region can come together for a common cause to make a difference in a local family’s life through our time, talent and support.”
Coventry Fine Homes is currently looking for volunteers to help with the build and donations to help with supplies.
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition‘s theme this season is “Get On The Bus,” which projects the idea of the Obama administration’s focus on volunteerism. In every episode, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will demonstrate the value of community service and invite a celebrity with local ties to the community to take part in the build.
