Falling Skies has reached the halfway point in its fourth season, and the show once again had a major presence at San Diego Comic-Con.

Noah Wyle, Will Patton, Doug Jones and Maxim Knight spoke to reporters about the end of the series next season, what’s coming up this season, their characters and the issues both aliens and humans have.

Check out the video interviews with Noah Wyle and Will Patton:

Highlights from the interview:

  • Wyle is “particularly excited” about the announcement of the final season because “so rarely in television do you get to choose your own ending and to give your fans a real sense of completion.” He thinks it will be “satisfying” for everyone to see “these characters reach their natural conclusions.”
  • Anne’s maternal instinct drove the first half of the season.
  • While Tom may have a different relationship with Lexi, Wyle explains that “the small fraction of familial feeling that he has towards her is what allows him to put his guard down and not view her as the security risk she is” and what puts him into conflict with others.
  • What Lexi does at the end of episode 6 kicks off the rest of the Falling Skies season.
  • Both Wyle and Patton praised the director of episode 7, Olatunde Osunsanmi, who will be back as executive producer in season 5 to replace Greg Beeman.
  • Patton said that “something is saved in Weaver” when Matt hugs him.
  • Wyle and Patton agree that Tom and Weaver, who were on opposite sides of a scale in the beginning, have, in a way, switched stances.

Check out the video interviews with Doug Jones and Maxim Knight:

Highlights from the interview:

  • Jones said that Cochise has his own daddy issues.
  • Jones: “What do you become in times of turmoil and trouble? What do we push to? What are our limits? How do we respond in times of crisis?”
  • Knight talked about Weaver as a father figure to Matt. He’s able to give him things Tom can’t because his father is so concerned with safety.
  • Jones teased that the while the Volm are information-gatherers, it’s never revealed this season exactly how much they know about Lexi.
  • Communication is tight with the mothership, but there will be a reunion at some point.
  • Jones talked about the makeup process for Cochise.

Falling Skies season 4 airs Sundays at 10pm on TNT.

If it’s on TV — especially if it’s a procedural or superhero show — chances are Meredith watches it. She has a love for all things fiction, starting from a young age with ER and The X-Files on the small screen and the Nancy Drew books. Arrow kicked off the Arrowverse and her true passion for all things heroes. She’s enjoyed getting into the minds of serial killers since Criminal Minds, so it should be no surprise that her latest obsession is Prodigal Son.
