American actor Scott Porter was born in Omaha, Nebraska on July 14, 1979. He attended Lake Howell High School in Winter Park, Florida and was in 4:2 Five, an a capella group while there. He was featured on two of their albums which helped launch his career. Porter previously starred in off-Broadway productions such as Altar Boyz and Toxic Audio. He is also known as the face for brochures and billboards for the Pirates Dinner adventure in Florida.
In 2006, Scott Porter made his way to television screens. He took over the role of Casey Hughes in the soap opera As the World Turns. It was originally portrayed by Zach Roerig but Porter replaced the actor. That year, Scott Porter was seen in an episode of Ugly Betty, which stars America Ferrera, Eric Mabius, Ana Ortiz, Vanessa Williams and Rebecca Romjin. In 2007, Porter landed the role of Colin Thompson, one part of the duo fronting the fictional band PoP! in the movie Music and Lyrics. This allowed him to work alongside Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant. Some of Porter’s other television credits include All My Children, The Bedford Diaries and Descent in 2007. He played the character Brooks in the thriller, and was able to work with Rosario Dawson and Chad Faust. Porter was also known for playing Bobby in the remake of Prom Night, directed by Nelson McCormick and starring Brittany Snow. Porter, however, is best known for playing Jason Street on the award-winning series Friday Night Lights. His character is the former star quarterback of Dillon High, as well as the boyfriend of Lyla Garrity played by Minka Kelly. Porter has to use a wheelchair on the set because of his character’s football injury. Scott Porter also made himself known for playing Rex Racer in the Wachowski brothers’ film adaptation of Speed Racer. He has also taken on a role in Rock On, also featuring Vanessa Anne Hudgens, Lisa Kudrow, Alyson Michalka and others.
