Game of Thrones has had remarkable skill in casting its younger stars. Maisie Williams as Arya, Isaac Hempstead-Wright as Bran, Sophie Turner as Sansa and Jack Gleason as Joffrey are all phenomenal. Now the show hopes to add to that with its first new casting for season 3.
As she revealed on her Twitter account, young British actress Kerry Ingram has landed the role of Shireen Baratheon, Stannis’ daughter, in the third season of Game of Thrones. This is one of many new roles coming to the show for season 3. Click HERE to see who else will be joining the cast in season 3.
Who is the young Miss Ingram? Well, she might not have an TV acting credits, but she is one of the young women who has played the lead role in the British production of Matilda the Musical, based on the popular Roald Dahl book. She recently won the Olivier Award (Britain’s version of the Tonys) for Best Actress in a Musical, along with the other young girls who played the role.
Given the show’s history with child actors, I suspect this could be another great addition to the cast. The Game of Thrones season 2 finale airs Sunday at 9pm on HBO.
