Scott Clifton, three-time Daytime Emmy nominated actor, is best known for his role as the character Dillon Quartermaine on General Hospital. However, after spending nearly four years on the ABC soap opera, the 22-year old actor is finally calling it quits.
“Scott will not be leaving in June, but will exit the show as needed per storyline,” a General Hospital spokesperson has stated despite the actor’s contract expiration on May 12.
According to Soap Central, Clifton has decided not to renew his contract with General Hospital. However, his exact exit date on the show is still left hanging. Meanwhile, the actor will remain with the show on a recurring basis until the program is able to wrap up his character plot. At present, there are no plans to recast the role of Dillon once Clifton finally makes his last appearance.
Clifton, a native of Los Angeles, California, has portrayed the character Dillon Quartermaine since 2003. For nearly four years, he has portrayed an aspiring filmmaker and son of Paul Hornsby and Tracy Quartermaine. Despite little acting experience, Clifton has gradually established a name for himself, being nominated for three consecutive Emmy Awards for Outstanding Younger Actor. Apart from General Hospital, he has appeared on television shows like Roswell, Judging Amy, Soap Talk and The View. He has also graced movies such as The Death Strip, Arizona Summer, and Terminal Error.
Currently, there is no word yet on where the young actor is headed although many speculate that he will be concentrating on his career as a singer/songwriter. His latest release, “So Much For the Nightlife…” is available for purchase on Clifton’s official website.
