Glee is about to get a glam makeover for season 5. On Wednesday evening Ryan Murphy tweeted that American Idol‘s Adam Lambert is joining the cast.
No other details were given, so all we really know is that “the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall.”
Is it a guest appearance like Josh Groban? A small recurring role like fellow Idol runner-up Jessica Sanchez? Or a major recurring role like Kate Hudson last season?
Whatever the case, Adam Lambert’s musical range and unique style seem like a natural fit for Glee. If I had to guess, I’d say he could be a new professor at NYADA, maybe one that Kurt develops a little crush on. Or he could be a bad boy of Broadway who tempts Rachel, but that all seems a little too much like Smash.
Adam Lambert is best known as the runner-up from American Idol season 8, losing to Kris Allen in the finale. He is openly gay and has gone on to much musical success with his stylish, over-the-top glam rock.
Lambert’s only previous scripted television credit was a cameo as himself on Pretty Little Liars.
Are you excited to see Lambert on Glee? What role do you think he should play?
Glee season 5 premieres Thursday, September 19 at 9pm on FOX.
