Glee season 5 has already been eventful, to say the least, mainly because of the Cory Monteith/Finn tribute episode this past fall. Another big moment, though this time on a much lighter note, will happen in the spring when Glee celebrates its 100th episode, which will include returning and new guest stars, an episode expansion with 10 songs and more.

A 2-Part Episode — Does Sue End New Directions?
First off, before we get to the guest stars and the song list, the celebrations won’t be taking place solely within this one episode. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the 100th episode has now turned into a two-part event, which will air on March 18 and 25 (episodes 12 and 13).
What may intrigue fans is the storyline itself. According to THR, Sue Sylvester, who we all know is now the McKinley High principal, “finally succeeds in ending the glee club in Lima.” And as a result, some of the original cast members (and a guest star) — Brittany , Mike, Puck, Mercedes, Quinn and April Rhodes (Kristin Chenoweth) — will stop by to “say their final goodbyes to Will and each other.” Keep in mind that the actor playing Will, Matthew Morrison, will remain on Glee.
There’s been a lot of talk in recent months that season 6 would be set entirely in New York and that the transition would begin as early as this season. The above storyline sounds exactly like the start of said transition. To shut down the glee club effectively ends the McKinley storyline; there’s no point in being there anymore. But if Morrison is still on the show, what will Will be doing? Is he going to move to New York to pursue his Broadway dreams again? And if that’s the case, why would April need to have a “final goodbye” with him?
After the two-part event, there will be “several consecutive episodes” taking place in New York, focusing on the usuals like Rachel and Kurt, but also Blaine, Sam, Mercedes and “potentially other co-stars.” I assume Artie as well since he’ll be going to film school. And why is Mercedes included on this list? After graduation, she moved to LA; maybe she’ll be moving to New York as a way to stay on the show?
The Hollywood Reporter has also heard from sources that Ryan Murphy and the other executive producers are in the middle of planning out the remaining season 5 episodes, and nothing is set in stone at the moment for the characters currently in New Directions.

Chase Crawford to Guest Star, Gwyneth Paltrow Returning
Glee‘s 100th episode celebration won’t be suffering from a lack of guest stars. It was previously reported that Chenoweth would reprise her role as April. Now we’re hearing that Gwyneth Paltrow is also set to return as the substitute teacher Holly Holliday.
But what might be even bigger than that is this other bit of casting news: E! Online is reporting that Gossip Girl alum Chase Crawford has been cast in a guest starring role as a love interest to a character we haven’t seen in quite a while.
Star Matthew Morrison revealed at a pre-Golden Globes party, “I think [Crawford]’s going to be Dianna Agron’s new love interest. His name is Biff. He’s kind of a Yalie degenerate.”
Glee is known for bringing on big-name guest stars, but I find it interesting they’re bringing on someone as well-known as Crawford as this character in particular, considering Quinn’s boyfriend doesn’t seem to be a huge role. Since they do have a big name, I’m also intrigued to find out how much screen time he will have as a result.
