It’s time for another Nationals competition on Glee! But this time, it’s a bittersweet moment, in a way, because with the show about to move full-time to New York, this looks to be the final glee club competition episode we’ll ever get to see. So let’s savor every moment, starting with the songs themselves.
In tonight’s episode, New Directions travels to Los Angeles to compete against two other glee clubs: Throat Explosion (with Pitch Perfect‘s Skylar Astin playing their leader, Jean-Baptiste) and The Amazonians. Which songs will they all be performing? Which special guests are stopping by to show their support? And what kind of judges has Ryan Murphy written in this time?
To answer the first question, here are the six songs featured in “City of Angels” (the final five on this list are being performed at Nationals): Randy Newman’s “I Love LA,” The Go Go’s’ “Vacation,” a mash-up of Styx’s “Mr. Roboto” and OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars,” Boston’s “More Than a Feeling,” Neil Diamond’s “America” and U2’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.”
As for the other two questions I posed, Mercedes and Finn’s parents stop by to support New Directions. And while we don’t know who all of the Nationals judges will be, we do know that Marlee Matlin will play one of them.
Listen to all of the songs below:
“I Love LA” — Will, Artie, Blaine, Sam & Jake
“Vacation” — The Amazonians
“Mr. Roboto/Counting Stars” — Throat Explosion
“More Than a Feeling” — Blaine and Tina with New Directions
“America” — New Directions
“I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” — New Directions
Do you have a favorite cover? Did New Directions pick great songs for Nationals? And what do you think of Throat Explosion and The Amazonians?
Glee airs Tuesdays at 8pm on FOX.
