Rumors have been rampant lately that Glee will end up having a NYC-based spin-off series after all — and FOX has come out quickly to address those supposed reports. Also in today’s Roundup, Jane Lynch is teasing what’s in store for Sue this season and giving her thoughts on the show coming to an end. And Lea Michele has recorded a song that holds special meaning to her, and it has to do with Cory Monteith.

FOX Denies Lea Michele Spin-Off Rumors
There are so many different rumors and reports going around regarding the future of Glee. First, we’re told that the FOX musical dramedy may move to New York City entirely and it could happen as soon as this season. Then there was the ridiculous talk of sending Kurt to Russia — as if that would ever happen.
And then the latest came just this week when RadarOnline reported that creator Ryan Murphy is in talks to develop a Lea Michele spin-off series. An insider said, “This will be announced soon.”
The source continued by saying, “They’re making the deals now and it also presents a viable exit plan for the main Glee series itself — in that some of its core cast would also migrate to the Lea Michele project as Glee is showing signs of aging.”
Just hearing that, it’s obvious something doesn’t add up. Both Murphy and the head of the network have admitted season 6 will likely be the final season, though nothing has been made official yet. And if the earlier reports are true, why move the original show to New York when the spin-off would be meant for the same exact purpose?
And finally, there was talk a couple years ago that there would be a spin-off with Rachel, Kurt, etc. But that never happened because they ended up merging it into Glee itself, going back and forth between McKinley High and New York.
Ratings are way down this season. It doesn’t seem to be in FOX’s financial interests to come back around to the idea of doing a spin-off. So it came as great relief when the network came forward quickly to dispel the inaccurate rumor, telling The LA Times it’s not true. And a source is backing up that claim, saying “There is Glee and Glee only.”
As exciting it would be to have a spin-off, at this point Ryan Murphy and FOX are doing the right thing by working towards an end-date and realizing the show can’t go on forever.
Jane Lynch Teases Upcoming Duet with Matthew Morrison
There has been a big change for Sue Sylvester on this season of Glee. She’s now the principal, leaving Figgins to clean up everyone’s messes as the custodian. What does this mean for her relationship with the Glee club? In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jane Lynch says her character doesn’t mind trying to have it both ways when it comes to either supporting them or tearing them apart.
“[Sue’s] for the Glee club when it suits her principal needs in making the school look better, and then if that’s not the case, then she’s going after them,” Lynch said. “She kind of randomly just goes after the Glee club. But she really does seem to be taking her job as principal seriously.”
What about another duet with Mr. Schuester? It’s going to happen. “Matt [Morrison and I do a] Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire number. That was a lot of fun. That’s the point of it — to do everything backwards and in high heels. That’s ostensibly what it is through camera magic, but Matt carries the number. That was really fun to do.”
With Glee planning on ending its run after season 6, Lynch says that “it’s been a great experience” and that she’s “on board with whatever Ryan Murphy wants me to do.” But does she have an idea for where she’d like her character to end up by the time Glee concludes? Coincidentally, it’s already happened. Lynch “really wanted” Sue to end up being the principal, and despite that having come to fruition, she admits she never talked to Murphy about it.
“When she was the Cheerios coach, she was always trying to win and be number one, and now [as principal] she can relax because she actually is in a place of authority. There’s a restfulness to her that wasn’t there before.”
And when asked if she could see Sue showing up in the New York storyline, she responded, “Someone actually said to me today, wouldn’t it be interesting if Sue went to New York and did a one-person show, and got financiers and the whole thing, and it was shite? Or maybe it’s fantastic. But anyway, that’s my little imagination. Nothing I think of is anywhere as good as what Ryan, Brad and Ian do.” If Glee does end up moving to New York full-time, I wouldn’t put it past Ryan Murphy to find some way to keep Sue around, even if it’s not for every episode.

Lea Michele Records Song for Cory Monteith
Lea Michele has finished recording her debut album, but there was a last-minute change that allowed her to record one more song, called “You’re Mine,” in tribute to Cory Monteith. “The album was done, and the label said, ‘Do you want to add anything?’ I was like, ‘I might regret it if I don’t,” Michele told Elle. “If makes me so happy, this song. It makes me think so much of Cory. It was ours. When I think of him, I play this.”
In that same interview, the actress revealed that she found solace in her former co-star Kate Hudson, who played Rachel’s dance instructor at NYADA, following the passing of Monteith. “I called [Kate Hudson] and said, ‘I don’t know where I’m going to go because my house is swarmed [with reporters].’ She was like, ‘Oh, you’re going to stay at my house.’ Like it was nothing. No one knew I was there. I’ll never really be able to thank her, truly, for what she did for me.”
