A tweet supposedly sent by Chris Colfer rocked the Glee fandom on Thursday.
This message was posted on the actor’s Twitter page: “Due to personal issues, I have been let go fom the cast of GLEE. Explanations will come shortly…”

Social media was abuzz over the news, with both the show name and the actor’s name trending on Twitter.
Considering how low the ratings have been for the FOX musical this year, a major depature like this would send the show into even more of a downward spiral. But was it all fake? Did the actor actually tweet this news?
The Hollywood Reporter has heard from Colfer’s manager that the Twitter account was hacked, which means this bombshell news is actually fake and he is still on the show for the final season.
Colfer’s publicist has revealed that the actor is currently on a mid-Atlantic flight and doesn’t have access to Wi-Fi, so he couldn’t have tweeted anything. (Update: the above tweet has now been deleted.)
20th Century Fox Television, which produces Glee, released a statement to dispell the “news”: “We’ve been alerted that Chris Colfer‘s Twitter account has been hacked. Rumors of his dismissal from Glee could not be further from the truth. We love Chris and look forward to working with him again this season.”
Now that we’ve got multiple confirmations about the hack, Glee fans are assured now that Chris Colfer is not leaving and he will be on our television screens come mid-season when the show returns for its sixth and final season.
