So we can’t tell you which songs will be sung in which episode, but we can tell you which songs will be making it onto “Glee: The Music, Volume 1.” The album, to be released on November 3rd, will consist of 17 songs from the first season of Glee. Considering they’re calling it “Volume 1,” I hope we get to see “Volume 2” come out around April or May of 2010.

The music of Glee has already proven to be quite a success. Right after FOX aired the preview episode in May, the Glee version of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin'” hit number 1 on the the iTunes chart almost immediately.
This season’s premiere episode will include Kanye West’s “Gold Digger,” Salt-N-Pepa’s “Push it,” Rihanna‘s “Take a Bow,” Burt Bacharach’s “I Say a Little Prayer,” Chic’s “Le Freak,” and Eric Carmen’s “All By Myself.” Obviously every single song can’t make the soundtrack. I’m happy to report that Matthew Morrison’s version of “Gold Digger” and Lea Michele’s performance of “Take a Bow” were two of the best songs of the episode and they will both be appearing on the “Glee: The Music, Volume 1.”

I’ll be honest and say I love Rihanna but I was never a fan of “Take a Bow.” Hearing Lea Michele sing it was an entirely different experience. Not to say Rihanna didn’t sing it as well, I just like how the Glee producers put together the arrangement better. Both Rihanna and Lea Michele have amazing voices. At Comic-Con, Lea actually said singing Rihanna was one of the more difficult things she’s had to do since joining the cast of Glee.

Take a look at the full list below. I’m going to be honest and say I want this album now so I can put it on repeat. Using my screening DVD to listen to Lea Michele belt out “And the award for the best liar goes to you…” works just fine, but it’d be so much easier if I just had a copy on my iTunes.

“Don’t Stop Believin'”
“Can’t Fight This Feeling”
“Gold Digger”
“Take a Bow”
“Bust Your Windows”
“Taking Chances”
“Alone”
“Maybe This Time”
“Somebody to Love”
“Hate On Me”
“No Air”
“You Keep Me Hangin’ On”
“Keep Holding On”
“Bust a Move”
“Sweet Caroline”
“Dancing with Myself”
“Defying Gravity”

Also, I didn’t even know this and I’m a Glee fanatic (obviously) but a special director’s cut of the “preview” episode FOX aired in May will be showing this Wednesday at 9pm (actually 8:58, don’t be late) as a precursor to the premiere episode on September 9th. I know I’ll be tuning in because this is the 18 time I’ve listened to “Take a Bow” and I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve heard “Don’t Stop Believin'” and I clearly just can’t get enough Glee.

Also, for those of you that haven’t heard, Kristin Chenoweth will be guest starring this season as April Rhodes, a girl that comes in to replace Rachel Berry while she’s gone (we can’t tell you why she won’t be there) and gets the club into a bit of trouble. Check out Kristin from E! Online’s interview with the cast about it here.
