We all know what’s going on Tuesday night. It’s of course the return of Glee after a very long hiatus. But we won’t have to wait until Tuesday to see the cast on our TV screens. On Monday, April 9, cast members Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith, and creator/executive producer Ryan Murphy, will come together on Bravo’s Inside the Actors Studio to be “grilled” by host James Lipton.
According to a press release sent out by Bravo, “From Chris Colfer‘s never-before-seen audition tape to Lea Michele’s first big break on Broadway to Cory Monteith’s troubled past, no stone is left unturned as they give viewers an inside look into their fascinating careers and reveal behind-the-scenes stories from the set of the hit series.” What intrigues me most about this blurb is the tease that we’ll be able to see Chris Colfer‘s audition tape — that’ll be one to see.

First, Matthew Morrison. Fans are torn about him; many online seem to not like him on Glee. But in this video, we see a funny side to Morrison as well as learning a little about his background, including the fact that he went to two high schools, one being a performing arts school. And did he start a gang? For real, or like West Side Story?
Next, have you ever wondered how the idea for Glee came about? It’s pretty well known at this point, but in case you haven’t, Ryan Murphy explains it here, along with co-executive producer Ian Brennan, who’s in the audience and just so happens to have a microphone. And what would Glee be without Sue? Well, that’s how the pilot script started out: without Sue Sylvester. But the producers and writers wrote the character with Jane Lynch in mind, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Both Chris Colfer and his character, Kurt Hummel, are adored on the show. He was the stand-out of season 2 with the bullying storyline, as well as the romance storyline with Blaine beginning. Ryan Murphy sees a lot of himself in Kurt. And Colfer says that Kurt is a tough guy in designer clothes. Do you agree?
This next video is about the art of keeping “fated lovers apart.” But the best moments come when Jane Lynch lays out a Sue-like zinger on Matt’s hair, and reveals how she can tell when Ryan Murphy is mad.
It really is amazing to see how many songs and albums from Glee have been bought and downloaded over the past few years. But did you know that releasing the songs every week wasn’t originally in the plans for the show?
Finally, one of the things that fans love about Glee is how much it celebrates the arts, especially when we see in real life arts programs being cut from schools left and right. Lea Michele talks about this, and Ryan Murphy mentions the Glee Give a Note program, which is doing fantastic things for the arts.
