On Grey’s Anatomy, Dr. Izzie Stevens has been romantically linked to Alex Karev, Denny Duquette, and George O’Malley. In real life, the actress who portrays her, Katherine Heigl, has dated Roswell’s Jason Behr and Blossom’s Joey Lawrence – woah! She is currently married but before meeting her husband, she actually fell for one of Grey’s costars. “When we were filming the pilot I was single and so was he and I kind of had my eye on him. I was getting nowhere and I was super-confused,” she admitted to The Sun, a British newspaper. Read on to find out who Katherine is talking about.
Believe it or not, Katherine actually fell for her best friend T.R. Knight when the two first met. “I was like, ‘Hello? Do I have something hanging out of my nose? Why aren’t you paying any attention to me? Needless to say, it quickly became a friendship once he told me [he was gay],” she said. Heigl is a very outspoken actress who defended Knight during his now infamous fight with former Grey’s star Isaiah Washington in 2006.
I have to admit to being a little amused with the woman who finds out that the man she has a crush on is gay and chooses to go on tour with a musician. I actually met Katherine Heigl in the summer of 2005 when her boyfriend (and now husband) Josh Kelley came to my home state for a show. I was there to meet Josh, not Katherine. I didn’t even really know who she was as I did not become a huge Grey’s fan until season 2. She was very nice, very polite and friendly, and seemed totally into her new relationship. Lucky for Josh, he was more than just a rebound guy. The two married last year, are very happy, and have even been talking kids.
