A romance between Jackson Avery and Maggie Pierce is certainly one I didn’t see coming on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy. But it looks like it’s brewing whether we like it or not. Fans might remember that just before Maggie’s mother took her last breath in the tragic episode of the hit series, she told Maggie she wanted her to actually live a little; lighten up and enjoy her life. To do that, she should be a little “slutty” and promiscuous.
Maggie has more than enough room to have a few moments that would be considered out of character. And it might be safe to say it’ll happen sooner than we thought. New photos for the upcoming episode, called “What’s Inside,” show Maggie and Jackson smiling at one another in a weird way that we’ve never seen before.
Actress Kelly McCreary, who portrays Maggie, revealed to TVLine that Jackson might be the next object of her affection.

“Since all the single-ish guys [at Grey Sloan] are in these sort of ambiguous relationships right now, getting involved with any of them might give Maggie something to be messy about.”
I can think of a few reasons why this wouldn’t be a good idea.
Maggie’s Too Fragile
She just lost her mother days ago. It was something she didn’t see coming. She was literally painting her mom’s nails when she went to close the curtain only to turn around and see her mother’s lifeless eyes looking back at her. I totally get her wanting to make her mother proud and have a few risque moments, but I think it’s a little too soon.
Jackson’s Not the Right Guy
We all love staring into Jackson’s light eyes and many probably dream of a chance to hook up with him. But considering Jackson was originally the doctor for Maggie’s mom, he’s way too close to the situation. Unless he’s actually genuine in his feelings for Maggie, he should stay far, far away from her heart.
Is Maggie over Riggs?
Is Grey’s Anatomy Making the Wrong Point with Owen and Amelia’s Storyline?>>>
Maggie and Riggs had a moment of their own in the episode that portrays the death of Maggie’s mom. She clung to him as she cried in a way she hadn’t with anyone else; not even Jackson. Considering Meredith turned down Riggs because she needed to be there for Maggie, it seems like the door was open for Maggie to get her shot with him, not Jackson.
Jackson Has His Own Baggage
Jackson and his ex-wife April, played by actress Sarah Drew, also seem to be finally getting on good terms. Well, great terms because they just hooked up in a previous episode. But Drew said it could all just be the first steps to “a return to best-friendship” for the exes.
Do you think Maggie is ready to have a “slutty” moment? What do you think about her emotional cry with Riggs?
