There won’t be any need for time travel now, as the third season of Heroes hits the small screens on Monday, September 22, with more than just an explosive entrance. Terror will break loose with “Villains,” who are dashing about wreaking chaos in the two-hour premiere on NBC. The immense anticipation was headed by creator Tim Kring and the series’ cast, as they discussed the upcoming episodes even more. Answering complaints regarding its second season, Kring decided that it was high time to turn up the action.
“We built this volume around the idea of hitting the ground with a tremendous amount of pace and adrenaline,” Kring exclaimed. “We wanted to let the audience know this is going to be a roller-coaster ride.” There’s no denying that a lot of hype has surrounded the approaching season, and with good reason. NBC’s massive promotional push behind the series seems to have been a response to the dissatisfaction that the Writer’s Strike has incurred.
Last season, we were left with the attempted assassination of Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar). “Villains” picks up right after that, introducing new revelations along the way. Though fans might be bombarded with new plot twists when season 3 opens, Kring assures us that lingering matters from the past seasons will be resolved by the second week.
The Heroes cast has also spoken about their characters, disclosing some hints that could addle and intrigue the minds of fans. “There is the implication that some of our heroes can be villains and the implication that some of who we know to be villains might have some heroism in them as well,” says Jack Coleman, who plays Noah Bennett. Many will struggle with their identities, including Sylar (Zachary Quinto), Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) and even Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy).
Despite more attention to the original heroes that we’ve come to admire, there is, of course, the addition of the villains to the cast. Twelve new personalities will be thrown into the mix, spewing mystery with names like Flint, The German, and even puppet-master Eric Doyle.
This just goes to show how tremendously difficult things will be for our heroes, and that’s just how we like it. Joining the fans in their enthusiasm, Ramamurthy exclaims, “The villains bring a little bit darker feel to the show. Everyone’s stakes are so much higher.”
