It was a fruitful guest-appearance for Meat Loaf on a season 5 episode of House. While filming, the singer-actor slipped a little note to House star Hugh Laurie alongside a demo of a new song for his new album. Laurie had a simple reply: “Are you kidding me? Yes. I’ll play.”

Thankfully, the little arrangement is finally happening. While it is no secret to House fans that Laurie can play the piano, they can now hear him in an actual song! Laurie is one of the guests featured on Meat Loaf’s new album Hang Cool, Teddy Bear, Contact Music reports. Comedian Jack Black is also part of it.
The concept album is based on a short story of Killiam Kerwin, with songs written by American Idol judge Kara Dioguardi. Laurie plays piano on the song “If I Can’t Have You.”
“I wasn’t going to go up to him and say, ‘Did you hear the demo?’ ” Meat Loaf had previously told E! Online. “But the next day on the set, he walked up to me and said, ‘Are you kidding me? Yes. I’ll play.’ And so I’m hoping that happens.”
Hang Cool, Teddy Bear, about a mysterious military man, is slated for a May 10 release.
Laurie, the vocalist and keyboarder for charity rock group Band from TV, also plays the guitar, drums, harmonica and saxophone. His bandmates include Heroes‘ Greg Grunberg, Desperate Housewives‘ James Denton, and House star Jesse Spencer, among others.
