Titus Welliver is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe when he reprises his role in Agents of SHIELD. And Jordin Sparks is set to guest star on CSI this fall. Read on for all the details, including casting news for Dallas, Ironside, The Vampire Diaries, Castle, The Goldbergs, The Mindy Project, Grimm, The Michael J. Fox Show and Switched at Birth.
Titus Welliver returns as Agent Blake in Agents of SHIELD: The actor first played this character in the short film Marvel One-Shot: Item 47, which was included as a special feature on The Avengers Blu-ray, and will appear in episode 6, called “FZZT.” Marvel.com is reporting that the SHIELD team goes after an elusive killer after floating bodies start turning up. It’s assumed Blake will assist the team in some capacity with this endeavor.
Jordin Sparks guest starring on CSI: The American Idol season 6 winner is playing a high school teacher named Alison who ends up in a hotel room covered in blood — and of course that’s the crime scene at the center of episode 9, “Check In & Check Out,” airing in November, according to Perez Hilton. Nothing else is known at this time, but it’s exciting to see an Idol alum continuing with more acting ventures.
AnnaLynne McCord goes from 90210 to Dallas: She’s been cast as Heather, a ranch hand whose ex-husband is causing trouble; she also has a five-year-old son. Christopher helps her out, notes ET Online, when her ex tries to cause some unneeded turmoil, resulting in the two becoming an item. This is a multi-episode guest starring stint for McCord.
Robert Forster and Lou Diamond Phillips lend a hand on Ironside: The two actors are appearing in the same episode, TV Guide reports, which will air later on in the season. Forster is playing Michael Burke, who’s known as a legend with the NYPD, is a former detective and just so happens to be Virgil’s father. And Phillips has been cast as Stuart White, who’s in charge of security for a university in New York City. Robert Ironside attempts to find a car bomber, and White, a former police officer, teams up with him to track the criminal down.
Michael Malarkey to recur on The Vampire Diaries: The actor with the fantastic last name has signed on to the vampire drama as Enzo, “a charismatic but tortured figure,” according to Deadline, who’s looking to meet up with someone from his past — Damon. He’ll first appear in the episode airing on December 5, and will continue on in a recurring role.
Annie Wersching‘s ready to nip and tuck on Castle: The 24 alum is guest starring as a cosmetic surgeon named Dr. Kelly Nieman. TVLine notes that detectives take notice of her after it appears she and a murder victim have some sort of a connection.
Tom Cavanagh and Jennifer Irwin are the neighbors on The Goldbergs: They’re playing Charles and Virginia Kemp in a November episode, TV Guide reports. Beverly tries several times to befriend these “prim and proper” neighbors, but she keeps striking out. And it gets so bad that Virginia orders her son, Chad, not to play with the Goldbergs’ son, Adam.
Jenna Elfman’s in charge on The Mindy Project: The actress is not only a crisis-management publicist in this guest-starring role, but Vulture is reporting that she “sexually dominates” Danny in an episode. Nothing else is known about her character, but it definitely sounds intriguing.
Also guest-starring on Mindy is Larenz Tate, who, according to Entertainment Weekly, has been cast as a politician running for a Congressional seat, named Tracy Whitfield, who knows how to turn on the charm — he ends up clashing with Mindy on some issues.
Sharon Leal is a potential love interest on Grimm: She’s playing Zuri Ellis, a physical therapist being described as “smart, beautiful and mysterious,” TVLine reports. Leal has signed on for a multi-episode arc. Co-creator David Greenwalt recently hinted of a “romantic thing with Hank,” which could very well be this pairing, but it’s not confirmed. At the time, he went on to say, “We’re not sure if it’s going to be a Wesen girlfriend or not.”
Sting bringing Christmas cheer to The Michael J. Fox Show: According to TVLine, the singer will show up as himself in a holiday episode at the end of the year. Star Betsy Brandt recently teased about this episode, saying, “For Annie and Mike, it’s a throwdown, like, ‘Oh, I’m going to out-gift you!’ But it’s also very sweet.”
RJ Mitte moves on from Breaking Bad for Switched at Birth: He’s Walter Jr. no more. When the ABC Family drama returns next year, Mitte will join in a recurring role. His character is a pre-med college student named Campbell who at one time became paralyzed from an accident while snowboarding. On the show, he’ll be working with Daphne at the clinic. Executive producer Lizzy Weiss said in a statement, “When we created the part of Campbell, we knew RJ was the perfect person to embody him. The character is charismatic, funny and a bit of a ladies’ man.”
