Get ready for some changes in season 6 of Parks and Recreation. Not only will there be some cast departures, but a wedding will take place as well. Also, there are even more guest stars lined up — one has an on-screen pregnancy and the other will give Ron Swanson’s mustache a run for his money.

Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones Leaving Parks and Rec
It’s disappointing whenever cast members depart a show, but when one of them is Rob Lowe, it’s even more heartbreaking. Buzzfeed notes that the two co-stars will only appear in the first 13 episodes of season 6. Jones was part of the original ensemble when the show first debuted in 2009, while Lowe signed on towards the end of season 2.
Executive producer Mike Schur said in a statement, “We’ve been working on their storyline (on and off) for four seasons now, and heading into this year, with [their characters Chris and Ann] contemplating parenthood, it felt like a natural time to move them into the next phase. … They are wonderful, funny, committed actors, they’ve been a huge part of the Parks and Rec family, and we think we have a great Pawnee send-off in the works for them.”
But Lowe may not be off TV for long, as NBC is looking to sign the actor to a development deal for a possible new show, according to Deadline. And Jones won’t be laying low anything soon, as she has a production company at Warner Bros.
Wedding Bells
Besides those departures, expect one couple to also get married in season 6. Schur told TV Guide, “I will personally guarantee that there will be a wedding this season, that some couple will get married.”
He’s not giving away just yet who will walk down the aisle. It could be the two mentioned above, Chris and Ann — maybe that will be their big send-off? The EP did say, “Any time you’re having a child with someone, or trying to, marriage is somewhere on the table, but their relationship has never been traditional.”
Or what about Rob and Diane? Speaking of pregnancies, this couple is expecting, so maybe it’s them. “They’re in a similar position to Chris and Ann. Ron is very single-minded and very passionate about what he’s passionate about. He’s very definitive in his actions and I think that over the course of the season, you’ll see that played out.”
Whoever it ends up being, Schur says it’ll be “a couple that makes sense.”

Casting News: Lucy Lawless and Sam Elliott
Ron and Diane were discussed as a possibility for marriage. They could be, considering Lucy Lawless, who plays Diane, is returning as a guest star in the season 6 premiere, airing September 26, with producers wanting her to show up throughout the season, reports EW.
Meanwhile, Sam Elliott will be guest starring in one episode. According to TVLine, he’ll be Ron Swanson’s “aggressively mustached counterpart/doppleganger” from the nearby city of Eagleton. Get ready for the battle of the mustaches. Kristen Bell is also set to appear in the same episode.
