NBC is so hopeful that their new mid-season comedy Perfect Couples will live up to the front half of its name that the network will air a special sneak preview of the series at 10pm tonight, after the finale of The Sing-Off.
The episode tonight will not be the pilot, but instead the episode “Perfect Tens,” which NBC execs felt was one of the season’s strongest, reports Variety. After airing tonight, the series will move to 8:30pm on Thursdays as part of NBC’s new six-show, three-hour comedy block.
The series is about three couples who are clearly far less than perfect (except for each other, says the promo voiceover) and each deal in their own special form of dysfunction. Dave (Kyle Bornheimer) and Julia (Christine Woods, Flash Forward) are the most normal duo who act as the bridge between their pairs of friends at two extremes: Vance (David Walton) and Amy (Mary Elizabeth Ellis, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) are the constantly fighting, passionate, more than slightly crazy types, while their buddies Rex (Hayes MacArthur) and Leigh (Olivia Munn) are perky, supportive and expressive, in the sort of relationship Dr. Phil only wishes he could inspire–at least on the surface.
Not that there’s too much competition on air tonight (besides the mindlessly magnificent Million Dollar Money Drop), but if you’re still unsure if Perfect Couples is worth your time, check out a few clips from the new series:

An infestation of bed bugs misleads Amy into thinking that Vance is not ready to commit to her. Rex and Leigh plan an Italian vacation and struggle trying to adjust to the time difference.”
