Everyone’s talking about the blackout during Sunday’s Super Bowl game. But I think we all wish Donald Trump could be given his own blackout now that he’s suing Bill Maher over a joke.

Comedian Bill Maher appeared on The Tonight Show in January and made a quip about Donald Trump and his birth certificate tirade against President Obama. Maher joked that if The Donald could prove he’s not the “spawn of his mother having sex with an orangutan,” he would donate $5 million of his own money to charity. Everyone laughed, and we all assumed the charity offer was part of the joke. Everyone, that is, except Trump, who released his birth certificate and demanded Maher pay up.
Now Trump is following through on his word and announced on FOX & Friends that he is suing Maher for $5 million — all in the name of charity, of course.

“He promised me $5 million for charity if I provided certain information,” he said on the FOX News program. “Well, I provided the information, he didn’t pay. So today, I sue Bill Baher for $5 million for charity.” (Deadline has published the full lawsuit online.) Not even the hosts of the program were buying it, and mentioned that the lawsuit probably doesn’t have any merit since the comments were part of a joke. Trump replied, “I don’t think he was joking. He said it with venom. That was venom. That wasn’t a joke. In fact, he was nervous when he said it. It was a pathetic delivery.”

Afterwards, Maher tweeted, “What?? Really? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.” That’s the same reaction the rest of America is having.
