In its ongoing attempt to lure in the obsessed fans of every cult TV show ever, Ringer has cast Veronica Mars and Moonlight actor Jason Dohring in a recurring role.

According to a report from EW.com, Dohring will play the part of Mr. Carpenter, a high school teacher. Siobhan Martin, the rich one of the twins both played by Sarah Michelle Gellar, will come across Carpenter via her troubled stepdaughter, Juliet (played by Zoey Deutch). There is no word on how many episodes we can expect for Jason Dohring.

Although he has appeared as a guest star on shows as varied as Party Down, Lie to Me and CSI, Jason Dohring is best known for two roles: Logan Echolls on Veronica Mars and Josef Kostan on Moonlight. Both characters fell distinctly into the category of “bad boy,” which makes one wonder if the upcoming Ringer role will have the same direction.

Could Mr. Carpenter prove to be a love interest for Gellar’s Bridget (as she masquerades in twin-sister Siobhan’s life)? That could be a very fun complication.

With this new casting, it’s definitely looking like Ringer could turn out to be a haven for obsessed fans everywhere. Sarah Michelle Gellar’s starring role of course brings in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer contingent. But the show also stars such actors as Nestor Carbonell — the enigmatic and un-aging Richard Alpert on Lost — and Kristoffer Polaha — the star of such quickly-canceled fare as Life Unexpected, Valentine, North Shore and Miss Guided. Tara Summers (who played Katie Lloyd on Boston Legal) and Ioan Gruffudd (the star of the Fantastic Four movies) are additional co-stars.

Basically, all Ringer needs is to cast the Cigarette-Smoking Man from The X-Files and one of the Star Trek captains, and they’ll have all of the crazy fan bases covered.

That would actually be pretty cool.

Ringer will debut on Tuesday, September 13 at 9pm on The CW.
