John C. McGinley, cast member of the television series Scrubs, was married Saturday, April 7, to Nichole Kessler, a yoga teacher, in a small and intimate ceremony with his family and friends in his Malibu home. In an interview with TV.Guide, McGinley expressed his enthusiasm in marriage. He said, “We want to get a family started right away.”
McGinley, a 47-year old native of New York, attended Millburn High School and studied acting at Syracuse University, as well as New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. At present, he stars as Dr. Perry Cox on the series Scrubs. Prior to his inclusion to Scrubs, he appeared in a number of television shows and worked in various films like Platoon, Wall Street, Point Break, Article 99, A Midnight Clear, Surviving the Game and Wagons East among others. Apart from being an actor, he is also known as a producer and a screenwriter.
This is McKinley’s second marriage. He was first married to Lauren Lambert in February 1997 and has a child with her named Max. After four years of marriage, Lambert and McGinley got divorced.
She met Kessler on the beach while he was playing with his son Max. According to McGinley, Max was the one that brought them together. He recounted, “He walked right up to her and he’s the reason I met her.” Kessler and McGinley dated for two years before getting engaged in 2006. McGinley narrated his proposal, “I wanted to show her some different flower ideas I had…and I had the rock in my pocket. I told her, ‘Sit down here to see the view of the ocean,’ and I said, ‘Will you marry me?’ and I took out the rock.”
As for the wedding, Kessler marched down the aisle wearing Le Spose Di Gio while holding a bunch of Dutch peonies. The guests, consisting of about 30 close friends and families feasted on sushi at Nobu Malibu and a three-tier wedding, which the couple ordered from Mani’s Bakery.
