Smallville: The Justice League tracked down Clark and then rescued Chloe from Lex's evil henchmen. Tess Mercer became the new CEO of LuthorCorp, Chloe accepted Jimmy's marriage proposal, and Clark finally gave up farm living to become a reporter at the Daily Planet.
Clark's first day on
Smallville working at the Daily Planet gets off to a rocky start when Lois Lane (
Erica Durance) mocks his flannel shirt. She steals a spare suit from a nearby reporter which Clark changes into, after which an explosion rocks the building.
Clark (
Tom Welling) speeds outside to see an overturned bus and he breaks into it to rescue the trapped passengers. He picks up a woman who happens to be Tess Mercer (Cassidy Freeman) and carries her out, much to her delight.
At the crash site, Chloe (
Allison Mack) helps a sick girl named Bette and calls over
Smallville's newest star, Sam Witwer as paramedic David Bloom. Davis wastes no time smiling flirtatiously. Chloe and Clark meet up and she tries to tell him about the engagement, but he's interrupted by a text from Lois.
She wants to team up to investigate the bombing, but Clark isn't so good at the job, not getting a name for his source. Lois tries to teach him about journalism, but he dismisses her. Apparently he doesn't think sources are important, which means he's destined to be the next Jason Blair.
Clark gets called into a meeting with the new boss, Tess. He's surprised she's the woman he saved and that she's OK and takes the bus, but she says she's going green. Tess is hoping Lex's “good friend” Clark Kent can help her find her old boss, but he's no help, informing h3er of the dissolution of that friendship a long time ago. Tess' flirtation with Clark is purely strategic, because she suspects he knows more than he's saying about Lex.
