First comes Marilyn. Then comes DeMaggio. Next comes an investor by the name of Nick Jonas. The former Jonas Brothers bandmate, who is currently starring on Broadway in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, will be guest starring in tonight’s episode of Smash, “The Cost of Art,” as Lyle West, an investor whom Eileen (Anjelica Huston) wants to invest in Marilyn: The Musical.
Jonas has been talking to the press about his role and sharing some inside scoop on what to expect in tonight’s episode.
On Lyle West, His Character:
“He’s a child actor who has just come into a bunch of financial success from the television show that he’s on that’s gone into syndication. He knows all the people involved in the Marilyn workshop from his time as a theater actor as a young boy. So the director, Derek Wills (Jack Davenport), throws Lyle a birthday party where Anjelica Huston’s character tries to get him to invest in the show.”
On Singing in Smash:
“I sing a song when you enter the party. I’m singing Michael Buble’s “Haven’t Met You Yet,” which was fun for me. … I’m also involved in a group number – an original number they do at the end of the episode. I jump on the guitar.”
Would Jonas Return to Smash?:
When asked if he’ll be back, he responds, “You know, I haven’t really been told yet. I would be all for being on the show again, but no one has mentioned it yet. If there’s an opportunity, I’m there.”
And if you want to watch a sneak peek, here’s a video preview of Nick Jonas performing “Haven’t Met You Yet” on Smash:
Are you excited about seeing one of the Jonas Brothers on Smash? If not, do you hope the show doesn’t turn into Glee where there’s major guest stars all the time?
Smash airs Mondays at 10pm on NBC.
