You know what?  I thought about it.  I can understand why the judges were harsh last week on So You Think You Can Dance.  The dances just weren’t memorable.  Sitting down to rank the men today, I really had to rack my brain to remember any of the dances besides Gev and Courtney’s contemporary routine and Josh and Katee’s Broadway routine.  Those two hours last Wednesday were kind of a blur and I hope that everyone plans to step it up this week.  For this week’s rankings, a dancer I wouldn’t have minded seeing go home now takes the top spot while the male contemporary dancers are right where they belong – at the bottom.

8. Chris Jarosz

Chris Jarosz krumping?  ‘Nuff said.

7. Thayne Jasperson

Don’t ask me why, but I can NEVER remember anything about Thayne.  I can’t remember an audition, a Vegas performance, his reaction when he made Top 20, his routines with whoever his partner is, or his solo last week.  I just don’t remember anything about him.  There’s his problem.

6. Matt Dorame

Well, Matt certainly improved from his first week, a jazz piece by Mandy Moore.  P.S.  I hate Mandy Moore’s weird, 80s style, man vs. woman routines.  I’m over them.  And for the record – I hated the table routine from last season, too.  There.  I said it.  Back to Matt.  I like him a LOT better than Thayne and Chris so I hope he at least outlasts them.  In the meantime, he better work on bringing a little more fire to the stage next time her steps on it.

5. Mark Kanemura

I really like Mark.  He grows on me every week.  The problem with Mark is that he doesn’t pack enough punch in the personality department to go the distance in this competition.  There are certainly more likable dancers and there are also ones who impress more with their solo work.  I almost hope Mark lands in the bottom three soon so that he can show what he can do and grab the attention of America again, like he did in Vegas with his “Bohemian Rhapsody”  routine.

4. Joshua Allen

Well, I think a lot of So You Think You Can Dance fans are with me when I say that Nigel overreacted to Josh and Katee’s Broadway routine last week.  It was good, don’t get me wrong.  It may have even been great.  However, a standing ovation and walking around in a circle while clapping and pointing at them was probably a little unnecessary.   My concern with Josh is that he won’t have the same chemistry with another female dancer when the partners get mixed up and then he’ll be in a little bit of trouble.

3. Twitch Boss

First of all, I was surprised in week 1 when Twitch pulled off a high energy Broadway routine.  He followed that up with last week’s Viennese Waltz.  Let’s not say that most fans tune in for the waltz but Twitch and Kherington made it look effortless and kept my eyes glued to my tv set.  He consistently proves, week after week, why he deserves to be on the show.

2. William Wingfield

While the judges may have thought that his partner, Jessica King, was a hot mess in their hip hop routine, Will came to play on last week’s performance episode.  I’m convinced that this guy can do anything and most certainly should be one of the final four dancers in this competition.

1. Gev Manoukian

Gev made a big leap this week to 1st place after being ranked 6th place just one week ago.  While his disco didn’t do it for me, his contemporary routine with partner Courtney Galiano pleasantly surprised me.  I was so happy that she pulled a dance that was her specialty but worried he might drag her down.  Not so.  Gev pulled it off, was a great partner, and brought a lot of emotion to his dance.  I have to give it to him this week.
