While many of us were preparing for a long holiday weekend, the cast and crew of Supernatural were getting ready to go back to work. The gang reconvened in Vancouver, British Columbia on July 2 to begin filming the fourth season premiere of the CW series, entitled “Lazarus Rising.” The network recently announced that the new season will kick off on Thursday, September 18, and now we have some interesting details regarding the plot of the premiere. There are some light spoilers ahead, so read on at your own risk.
With a title like “Lazarus Rising,” I think it’s safe to assume that Dean (Jensen Ackles) will likely be up and walking around again by the end of the season premiere. For those not familiar with the Bible, Lazarus was a man who was dead for four days before being resurrected by Jesus. It’s interesting that the Supernatural writers would put such an obvious reference in the episode title. Maybe they want to assure fans that Dean won’t stay dead for long.
TV Guide recently reported that actress Traci Dinwiddie has been cast as Pamela Barnes in Supernatural‘s season premiere. The character is described as being “kick ass hot looking in a Gina Gershon kind of way.” As Bobby mentions in the episode, Pamela is considered “the best damn psychic in the state,” and she’s recruited by him and Sam (Jared Padalecki) to track down demons and possibly learn more about Dean’s fate. Now that we know that Katie Cassidy won’t be returning as Ruby, maybe Pamela will be the one to help Dean fight his way out of Hell.
According to spoilers posted at Supernatural.tv, it looks like Pamela, Bobby and Sam will be participating in a séance, possibly in an attempt to contact Dean. However, in the middle of the séance the psychic stumbles upon another spirit: Azazel. Could old yellow eyes also have a hand in resurrecting the deceased Winchester? We’ll have to wait and find out.
The fourth season premiere of Supernatural is now less than two months away, so dust off your Colt and zip up your meat suit, because the wait is nearly over.
