Not many TV shows rival the rabid passion of Supernatural fans, but Joss Whedon’s Firefly comes very close. Despite only airing for half a season, the show and its stars are all cult icons and many have moved on to bigger sows (Adam Baldwin on Chuck, Nathan Fillion on Castle). Now it’s time for another Firefly star to show up on TV on this fall.
According to Zap2It, Jewel Staite, who played the charming Kaylee on Firefly, will guest star on the third episode of Supernatural‘s upcoming seventh season. She’ll play one of Sam’s childhood friends who saved him, but then grew up and started leading a normal, demon-hunting-free life. Obviously the fact that Sam is back with her means the demons didn’t stay away forever.
The episode is directed by Supernatural star Jensen Ackles and will feature flashbacks to Sam’s childhood, meaning Colin Ford is returning as Young Sam.
The stars of the Whedonverse are no strangers to Supernatural. Amber Benson from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Amy Acker from Angel have both guest starred on the show.
Supernatural returns for its seventh season Friday, September 23 at 9pm on the CW.
