CBS has announced a ton of renewals for the 2016-2017 TV season. While NCIS and The Big Bang Theory have already been confirmed for another season, they are now joined by a slew of returning dramas, comedies and reality shows. There are some notable and troubling series that are left out of the exciting round-up.
The series that are currently confirmed for another season are:
- Blue Bloods
- Elementary
- Hawaii Five-O
- Madam Secretary
- Mom
- NCIS: Los Angeles
- NCIS: New Orleans
- Scorpion
- 2 Broke Girls
- Survivor
- The Amazing Race
As you can see from that list there are some big shows missing. The long-running Criminal Minds, which recently had a major cast member leave, is left out of the renewals. As the new spin-off Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.

Any of CBS’ freshmen series are also out of contention. So the fate of Supergirl and Limitless among others are left uncertain. It would be surprising if Supergirl and the rest of CBS four new series don’t get picked. As Variety reported earlier this year, when speaking to a meeting of investors CBS CEO Leslie Moonves said he was “confident” that all of the network’s 5 new series (including Supergirl, Limitless and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders) would get a second season.
