NBC’s renewal of The Apprentice comes with a star-studded twist. In an attempt to bring forth a high-profile competition within an innovative series, Donald Trump has cooked up a celebrity version of the business-oriented reality show.
“It’s always good to be in business with Mark Burnett and Donald Trump,” NBC Co-Chairman Ben Silverman said. “I am so excited to offer viewers what promises to be the most explosive version of The Apprentice that anyone has seen.”
“The success of The Apprentice has been a great experience for me. I look forward to working with Ben, NBC and Mark, the best team in television. I believe that celebrity Apprentice will bring our wonderful show to new heights,” Donald Trump added.
Originally conceived to feature young businessmen and women compete in an elimination-style contest for a one-year, $250,000 job of running one of host and executive producer Donald Trump’s companies, the celebrity version of The Apprentice features celebrities as they raise money for various charities.
Similar to past editions of the show, celebrity contestants will be tasked to work on projects on assigned teams in a weekly basis. Consequently, they will have to sit in the boardroom and advice Trump on who he should axe each week from their rival team. Trump and daughter Ivanka will also return for several episodes as boardroom advisers.
Participating celebrities will be announced at a later date for The Apprentice season seven.
While last season’s The Apprentice: Los Angeles garnered high ratings, the upcoming season attempts to maintain, if not to surpass, its previous 7.5 million viewers as an upscale unscripted show on primetime network television.
The Apprentice is produced by Mark Burnett Productions in association with Trump Productions LLC.
