One of the secrets behind the success of The Good Wife is the chemistry between the characters, or more likely the characters themselves. You just can’t help rooting for them as they go through their will-he-won’t-he moments, especially Will and Alicia.

On the latest episode of The Good Wife — “Doubt”, things pick up after the penultimate kiss between the two aforementioned characters. Alicia (Juliana Margulies) even points out that their relationship was “romantic because it didn’t happen.” It might though, but it won’t get ahead of this other couple that could just steal the show.
The flirting, etc. between Diane (Christine Baranski) and Kurt McVeigh (guest star Gary Cole) practically overshadowed the legal procedures of the episode. That’s certainly the case reported by Ken Tucker of Entertainment Weekly.
Such romances could even set the tone for the rest of the season, as the “aftermath continues on April 27. According to the network, we’ll be greeted with something “Bad.”
It’s probably because Diane and Kurt will continue to get into trouble because of their relationship. So will Alicia and Will. Christine Baranski told TV Guide, “The characters are a bit blindsided by their own emotions and the consequences of their getting involved. There’s a price to be paid for venturing out in any direction that maybe is unanticipated.”
But with the season finale on the way, one thing we can anticipate is a lack of closure. “A lot is not going to be resolved in the first season,” Baranski went on. “The audience will be longing for some kind of is-she-or-isn’t-she, is-it-or-isn’t-it, are-they-or-aren’t-they and they’re not going to get those answers.”
Well, we can’t even get anything from Josh Charles regarding the fate of The Good Wife. He was very tight-lipped regarding the show’s future on his Popwatch interview, and could only reveal what we already know.
“It’s not like I sit here and have all the answers. I don’t. All I can say is that I have a tremendous amount of faith — more so than I’ve ever had actually on a television gig — in the people that created it,” he explained.
“They have a lot of compassion for all these characters, even the darker ones, and I think that shows. It’s a very complicated equation between Will and Alicia, and I have the utmost confidence that they’ll handle it appropriately.”

We’ll let things take their course for now, but only because the show won’t be returning for two weeks. If the guy playing Will can be patient amidst all the tension his character has to face, maybe we can sit quietly like the good audiences we are. That is, until April 27.
