BIOGRAPHY
American actress Laura Jane Silverman was born on June 10, 1966 in Bedford, New Hampshire. She got her first shot at fame in 1997 when she was cast in a small role on Who’s the Caboose? Before that though, she was already providing the voice of the the titular character in the animated series Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist. Her voice work continued until 1999, but she also moved on to a role in 1998’s Half Baked, playing Jan.
Laura Silverman began the year 2000 with a bit part on the David Mamet dramatic comedy State and Main. The film starred Julia Stiles, Michael Higgins, Michael Bradshaw, Morris Lamore and Rebecca Pidgeon. Silverman later landed a role on the pilot episode of Bette, before voicing a character on Seth McFarlane’s Family Guy. In 2002, she was seen on Curb You Enthusiasm, and played a character on two episodes of Angel. She later landed more voice work, playing the role of Linda on Home Movies. In 2005, she worked with her sister as an extra on the film Sarah Silverman: Jesus Is Magic. During that time, she was cast as Jane on The Comeback. She appeared on thirteen episodes of the show, before she moved on to other projects. These include Freeze Out, Last Laugh ’05, The Room and Freak Show. In 2006, she booked the role of Grishnack’s Assistant on two episodes of Metalocalypse, and has also appeared on episodes of The King of Queens. In 2007, Silverman appeared on the pilot episode of Insatiable, before getting a regular role on her sister’s comedy show, The Sarah Silverman Program. She plays a fictionalized version of herself, who is Sarah’s responsible younger sister and a registered nurse. She devotes most of her time taking care of Sarah since their parents died when they were young. She then became the primary support of Sarah, even paying her sister’s rent because Sarah’s laziness and immaturity was getting in the way for her to get a job and support herself. Laura also likes Jay and soon falls in love with him.
In 2008, Laura Silverman got a role in an episode of House M.D. In 2011, she was cast as Whitney Appleby on Goodnight Burbank. In 2014, it was announced that The Comeback would return for its second season and that Silverman would reprise her role as Jane.
