It doesn’t matter whether they’re on television or in movies — teenagers love vampires.
Though it shouldn’t come as a surprise, it’s now made official. In the first set of surfboard nominations for the Teen Choice Awards, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 leads the field with seven, and The Vampire Diaries is not far behind with five.
The Teen Choice Awards is the fun summertime awards show that gives out surfboards to winners from television, music, film, sports, fashion, comedy and the Web with categories like “Best Kiss” and “Male Hottie.”
In the TV field, Gossip Girl, Revenge and Pretty Little Liars are the shows nominated for each category in drama, actor and actress. Gossip Girl is up for drama as are Penn Badgley and Blake Lively. Revenge has Joshua Bowman, Nick Wechsler and Emily VanCamp in addition to its drama nod (Gabriel Mann was totally robbed!). For Pretty Little Liars, Troian Bellisario and Ian Harding and the show are all vying for the win.
On the comedy side, Glee, New Girl and The Big Bang Theory all have three nominations, including comedy show and actors/actresses in Chris Colfer and Lea Michele (Glee), Jake Johnson and Zooey Deschanel (New Girl) and Jim Parsons and Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory).
For action fans, all shows nominated (except for NCIS: Los Angeles) also have an actor and an actress up for an award. In addition, Arrow and The Vampire Diaries are the two shows nominated for sci-fi/fantasy, actor and actress.
