In a series of panels focusing on some of the most popular TV shows currently airing, The Vampire Diaries just has to make the list. Not for total viewers, maybe, but definitely in terms of fan enthusiasm. Thus, The Vampire Diaries cast and producer took the stage at Paley Fest 2012.

First of all, a warning to anyone about to read this article. There are Vampire Diaries spoilers in what follows. If you don’t want to know anything about what’s to come on The Vampire Diaries, avoid reading anything in bold type. Those are the Vampire Diaries spoilers.

Appearing on the Vampire Diaries panel were Katerina Graham, Matt Davis, Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Julie Plec, Paul Wesley and Candice Accola.

So what was said at the Paley Fest Vampire Diaries panel?

  • “Live-streamers, suck it!” — Paul Wesley
  • “Klaus is bad. He’s a mass-murderer.” — Candice Accola
  • “Do you think Klaus has a Match.com profile? — Paul Wesley
  • The scene in which Rebekah is torturing Damon? That’s apparently owned by Evander Holyfield.
  • The torture leads to a “bonding moment” for Elena and Damon, Stefan and Damon.
  • There were an awful lot of Match.com jokes throughout.

  • “Damon does something really crappy to Rebekah in the next episode. And she gets really mad…” — Julie Plec on what leads to the torture
  • “Yes” and “Maybe” were the answers to whether Esther would be back to kill her kids.
  • “Is there an Elijah-Elena make-out scene?” “Elijah has to get in line behind Alaric…” — Julie Plec’s answer
  • It is asserted that an Alaric/Elena relationship is bad and won’t happen. So don’t worry.

  • Julie Plec spends an impressive amount of time detailing her favorite fan-fiction.
  • Unless I’m much mistaken, Matt Davis writes some of his own fan-fic… It may be on Twitter.
  • Katherine is too busy avoiding Klaus to come back to Mystic Falls.
  • “I’m a little hot…” — Kat Graham, to which Nina Dobrev replied: “Yeah, you are…”
  • Ian Somerhalder started to take off his shirt. But then he didn’t.
  • Caroline and Bonnie will be working together to deal with Bonnie’s mom and the vampire thing.
  • A great deal of time was spent explaining the concept of a “casting couch” to Paul Wesley.

  • Stefan may be less interested in being evil in the upcoming episodes.
  • “The brothers are sharing a journey, it’s just manifesting itself differently.” — Julie Plec on the Salvatores
  • “Damon’s no more good than Stefan is evil.” — Julie Plec (followed by “Don’t hate-tweet me for that!”)
  • The upcoming episode, “1912” showcases the brother-relationship of the Salvatores.
  • They don’t have a lot of anti-sunlight vampire rings.
  • The love triangle: “It’s going to come to a head. Maybe not the head. But a head, for sure.” — Julie Plec
  • “He wanted to get in her pants from day one…” — Julie Plec, on Damon’s interest in Elena
  • Elena will have to ask herself questions about which Salvatore she actually wants.

  • “We’re talking about having a flashback… showing Elena’s life before she had vampires in it.” — Julie Plec on whether we’ll meet Elena’s parents
  • Bonnie will get to date someone (soon?) who won’t just die.
  • “Every episode is its own new movie.” — Julie Plec
  • The many, many Mystic Falls events/parties are “crucial” to each episode of The Vampire Diaries.
  • High school graduation will not happen until season 4.
  • Almost an hour in, Julie Plec referenced Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
